An MRO
operation of blue chip UK aerospace company had an urgent need to establish
stronger links between its operations business plan / IPT contract plans,
and work being executed on the factory floor. It was critical for the
operation’s Senior Management to have clear visibility of real progress
across a multitude of programmes, and a high level of confidence that the
business’s revenue targets were achievable. The operation needed simple,
practical planning methods and processes to be established which would
provide consistency and control from order intake, through to payment
receipt.
One
of our people led a small team of consultants and company staff in the
development and implementation of a new planning framework, which built upon
existing planning processes already in place. The framework comprised of a
new set of planning principles and enhanced processes, together with a
networked PC based system for factory cell plan maintenance. The project
team worked closely with all stakeholders including Senior Management, IPT
Leaders, the Programmes Manager, and factory Cell Leaders. Within 6 weeks
the framework had been established and new plans drawn up for nearly 300
jobs. The implementation of the framework was pivotal in verifying the
plans for these jobs, and led to a much clearer visibility of work in
progress across the business |
